But the Lake Constance circular hiking trail, which has been in existence for a long time, is also fun. The best thing is that you can't get lost and it can also be walked in small sections, for example in combination with a boat trip or the regional train to get back to the starting point.
Only a 15-minute drive from Hotel Maier, two premium hiking trails of the "Bodensee LandGänge" begin near Markdorf. The easier of the two is an approximately nine-kilometer trail to the Bermatinger Waldwiesen. The other one leads about 15 kilometers around the local mountain of Markdorf, the Gehrenberg. Its name "GuckinsLand" fits the route perfectly. Because it offers magnificent views over the lake region from the heights.
Another attractive premium hiking trail is the 53-kilometer "SeeGang" from Constance to Überlingen. If you don't want to spend several days on the trail, simply take a section. For example, there are many viewpoints on the eleven-kilometer stage from Sipplingen to Überlingen. But beware: The trail initially involves a decent climb. The reward, however, follows immediately with magnificent views of the fjord-like Überlingersee. Recommended restaurants along the route: Haldenhof above Sipplingen and Hof-Café Vogler in Hödingen.
The Lake Constance circular hiking trail, which is 270 kilometers long in total, leads around the lake in eleven stages. If you fancy a beautiful section that can be walked from the hotel, take the Königsweg from Fischbach to Friedrichshafen, a secluded path close to the lakeshore. You can return comfortably by regional train.
